A big canal charity in Britain needs help. The Canal & River Trust wants volunteers urgently. They need help keeping up beautiful waterways; these waterways are some of the best in the world.

The Trust looks after canals and river routes, and it keeps up old bridges and aqueducts too. These things make lovely scenes for everyone. Woodlesford Lock looked great at sunrise; people volunteering made that happen.

The Trust wants more people to join them. They want help protecting old routes which are home to animals at risk. Last year, many people volunteered time and gave over 700,000 hours of work.

Volunteers helped make places nice for wildlife which include otters, voles, and kingfishers. Herons and other animals depend on these waterways. A great number of people live close to them, but many don’t know they need constant care.

Ranvir Singh helps the charity and stated some facts. She said that the Trust cares for canals, and these waterways total two thousand miles. Nature and these precious canals require more help; the Trust needs volunteers to make things better.
