Cyclists ride Wrexham to Cardiff, raising funds for Dolen Cymru Lesotho, celebrating 40 years of friendship and support.

Two cyclists train local doctors, while another recently retired as a headteacher. They start on Saturday, March 22, and will arrive in Cardiff on Monday, March 24. The ride is about 140 miles long in total.
Ian Happs spoke about their trip, stating they start in Wrexham and go to the Cardiff Dolen offices. These offices are at the Temple of Peace. He thinks this destination works well right now.
The ride starts at Wrexham’s Guildhall, serving as a central city symbol. Wrexham’s Mayor, Beryl Blackmore, will wave goodbye. She fondly recalls meeting people from Lesotho when they met with Wrexham AFC last year.
They want to fundraise for Dolen Cymru Lesotho, an officially registered charity. Money helps maintain friendships and promotes understanding. This covers health, education, and culture.
Friendships matter a lot in the world. This special link connects across half the globe. People really want to keep it strong.
Wales and Lesotho have been friends since March 1985. They share cultural events, like choirs, and also have health and education projects.
Wrexham was really important from the outset as the project idea began there. They decided to contact Lesotho’s government there.
Dolen Cymru Lesotho supports this link and is a registered charity in both locations. The first Dolen office was in Wrexham. Schools in Wrexham join activities, celebrating the link, including visits.
Wrexham AFC works with ‘Kick for Life,’ a small Lesotho charity helping kids via football. Wrexham AFC noted the long-standing connection previously and spoke about Wrexham’s key role. They invited K4L to Wrexham last year.
