Plans to convert a house into a children’s care home in Peterborough were denied for the second time due to parking issues.

Peterborough City Council initially said no last August. Parking was the major problem. The council thought it would be unsafe on the road. 24/7 Support UK Limited tried again in December, claiming they fixed the parking issue.
They claimed fewer staff needed parking and stated they needed three spaces, not four. However, neighbors and a councillor objected strongly. Chris Wiggin, the ward councillor, received over thirty written objections.
People worried about issues including parking, privacy, crime, and noise. They questioned if the location worked for a care home. Hampton Parish Council also objected, highlighting concerns parking would increase too much.
One neighbor described Swift Close as usually quiet and expressed worry about more traffic, potentially making things unsafe for kids and pets. The resident further mentioned existing private parking problems.
The council refused the plan again, citing unusable and insufficient parking. They noted the area is already tight for parking, and more cars would make things far worse.
The council believes this would heavily impact road safety. They cited the Peterborough Local Plan, LP13, and determined the increased traffic is unacceptable. The applicant now has six months to appeal.
