Cardiff’s Pentwyn Leisure Centre will get a new pool. It closed over five years ago during the first lockdown. The centre was shut for four years. It reopened partially last summer.

Good news, right? The new 25-meter pool should open this year. They will install a moving floor, and a children’s wet play area will also be built. The council plans green energy updates.

Solar panels and a heat pump will heat the water. This new wet zone sounds super fun. It should get kids playing together. Expect water jets and sprinklers there. Tunnels, little slides, and buckets will exist, too. The centre, except the pool area, stays open during construction.

Locals wanted the pool reopened since 2020. They felt pretty ignored by the closure. Cardiff Rugby used to train there. The gym reopened when they left last summer.

Jennifer Burke commented on the work. She’s a Cardiff Council member. Burke said this is a big step. They promised to fully reopen the centre. They want a good, lasting centre for everyone. It took too long, she admitted.
