Mischief’s pub in Cardiff Bay is now a seafood place. It’s called The Lord Bute. The pub got a complete makeover over several months.

Jo Bainton and friends run the new restaurant. Jo used to be a civil servant, but now she’s a lawyer. The restaurant idea started from a chat. Jo loves food and music.

She and her friends decided to open the restaurant. The Lord Bute is open six days a week; Mondays are their day off. They serve seafood and grilled food. Live jazz and blues music plays on weekends.

They offer lunch and dinner now. Brunch might come later. The friends took over the lease last November. They worked hard to change the building. The downstairs bar is there, fully stocked.

The main restaurant now has dark blue and copper colors. The upstairs area, once closed, has cocktail booths. High-speed internet is available for meetings.

The building is not listed as historic, still, they highlight and revive its old features. The food menu focuses on seafood and grilled items. Jo felt Cardiff lacked a good seafood restaurant. The building is well-known.

The Lord Bute team is from across Cardiff. They hired a local college student. They plan to offer apprenticeships to young people. The restaurant wants to support the community.

Seafood boil costs £24. Seafood linguine is £16. Lobster thermidor costs £50. Steak costs £25. Fish and chips cost £14. Cocktails cost £11 and up.
