A driver fleeing police at high speed crashed into a wall and was arrested. He faces charges of drug possession and dangerous driving.

A car drove away, and police followed with sirens. The driver, Kieran Hickey, acted like he would stop, then he sped off instead. This happened around noon one Wednesday.
He drove on the wrong side of the road, passing many cars at once. He drove 70 mph in a 30 mph zone. A police officer called it the worst driving ever. Hickey risked hurting people with his actions.
The police lost sight of the car but later found it crashed into a wall. Hickey ran, but police caught him. He had a knife and some cannabis; he passed a breath test but failed a drug test.
Hickey went to the hospital and refused to give a blood sample, arguing with the medic taking it. He pleaded guilty to several charges, including drug possession and dangerous driving.
His lawyer said Hickey didn’t know why he ran, claiming it was just a stupid thing to do. Hickey used the knife to sharpen sticks, he said. A report said Hickey could be helped without prison.
The judge gave Hickey a suspended sentence. He must pay court costs and a surcharge. He cannot drive for three years and must retest. He also needs mental health and drug rehab programs, and the judge warned prison if he messes up.
