Plans for new homes in a Cambridgeshire village have been rejected again, citing urbanization concerns and pedestrian safety.

Minster Property Group proposed it last year. They wanted to build homes in Newborough. The plan included 55 affordable houses. These homes would be near Peterborough beside St Martin’s Road.
The project had open space for everyone. It also promised better footpaths. These paths would connect to the village, making a cricket club easier to reach.
A similar plan failed before in 2023. That one had 65 homes and was rejected because of location. Traffic issues and character harm worried people. The new plan tried to fix those problems.
The developers said they would help provide needed affordable housing. They stated homes would improve the village’s look, according to their statement.
But they rejected the new design this February. Officials said it would unnecessarily urbanize the area. Safe pedestrian routes were not confirmed. Furthermore, other less flood-prone sites might exist.
