Jacque Doguie, 27, admitted to drug-driving in Byker after smoking weed, facing a three-year ban and increased sentence.

The 27-year-old first said he lacked car insurance. He then admitted to smoking a joint. A drug test showed high THC levels. THC comes from cannabis. His suspended sentence was for assault.
Doguie is from Gordon Road, Byker. He now faces a three-year driving ban. He admitted driving above the legal drug limit. Paul Coulson was the prosecutor. The case happened at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court. An officer stopped Doguie on November 6.
This happened in Newcastle City Centre. He drove his brother’s BMW. The officer walked to the driver’s door. The driver said he didn’t have insurance. He smelled strongly of cannabis, the lawyer said. Doguie admitted to smoking weed before driving. He failed the roadside drug test.
Later, his blood showed 9 micrograms of THC. The legal limit is 2 micrograms. Doguie had many prior offenses, the court heard. This included a drug driving charge from January 2023. He got a suspended sentence for ABH last August.
Jonathan Cousins was his lawyer. Doguie had recently lost his job. Cousins said Doguie used cannabis more after losing his job. Magistrates lengthened his suspended sentence. They also ordered him to pay £365. This covers fines, costs, and a victim surcharge.
