Charles Bronson’s ex-wife gave an update. Irene Dunroe spoke about his prison life. His latest freedom bid got delayed again. Bronson was set for a parole hearing soon. It was supposed to be next month, but now it is happening in December 2024. He was denied parole in March 2023.

He has spent years in jail. Violent acts led to a longer sentence. Bronson had a fight with Robert Donaldson, and they moved him to another prison. He went from Woodhill to Long Lartin in Worcestershire last May. Child killer Thomas Cashman is there too. This move might hurt Bronson’s parole.

He was first jailed in 1974 for robbery. He was 22 years old then and got seven years for that crime. He behaved badly while inside prison, earning him a bad reputation, too. He got out of prison briefly in 1987 and was a free man for only 69 days. He robbed a jewelry shop soon after that and went back to prison for seven more years. He had another brief release in 1992 and has been in prison since then.

Dunroe visited him last Thursday at the Long Lartin prison. Bronson sang “Wonderful World” for her. She thinks they want him to get angry, saying they always try to make him “kick off.” She says he remains in good spirits. He expects these delays by now. He feels strong and ready and that he has more time to gather information.

Dunroe and Bronson are writing a book. She visited him also in August 2023 and they spoke in person again after decades. They talked on the phone and wrote letters. She said he was amazing when they met and he sang the entire song perfectly. Even the guards clapped for him. He appeared very well and has had to endure much.

Dunroe felt hopeful before the altercation, thinking he would get released. She believed it looked promising for March 2025 but now views the incident as a setback. Was the fight planned to hurt his parole? We may never truly know why it happened. The Parole Board has been asked for comment.
