Plans cut travel time to Bristol Airport. Somerset and North Somerset improve A38. Feedback is being sought.

The councils got funding in late 2024 and are now finalizing business plans. They want feedback on current project designs to help shape the final plan.
Ten road improvements exist in the proposals, with Somerset Council controlling four of these. Many roads now work near full capacity, leading to slower trips and unsafe conditions. Congestion and road safety issues also exist.
One commenter called the scheme a waste of money, while another said cars are the only option now. Other airports, including Exeter, Birmingham and Glasgow, have good infrastructure links.
One person said Filton was a better airport site, claiming it had great road and rail links. They feel current issues could have been avoided. Another agrees that Filton would be better and thinks taxpayers will pay too much, believing the money is for foreign owners.
Someone else says it’s good the A38 will improve, stating this benefits everyone who uses it and is not just about airport travel.
One commenter suggests a direct road link, proposing a dual carriageway to Junction 20. Another asks if demand will justify the costs, pointing out that airport prices are rising a lot.
Someone suggests removing the Cumberland Basin from the CAZ, saying this allows a direct route from the M5.
