In Toxteth, police responded to a fight on March 3rd, around 9:50 PM. Officers went to Beaconsfield Street after reports came in of a fight.

When police arrived, some males ran away. A boy, age 14, was found nearby with a back wound needing hospital care. Police also found a machete blade.

The next day, March 4th, more happened. At 9 PM, police received a call about Granby Street, where two men were hurt. One man had a chest stab wound, and another had a face slash. Police suspect the events are related.

A local person witnessed the Granby Street fight. She reported about 50 young men fighting, and one man held his chest, saying he was stabbed. Someone then called for an ambulance.

The man stabbed is 24 and is stable in the hospital. The man slashed, age 48, has left the hospital. Police have arrested five people overall on suspicion of conspiracy to commit GBH.

Those arrested were ages 14, 15 (two), 17, and 48. The fourteen-year-old was conditionally bailed. The rest remain in custody for now, and police increased stop and search power.

Under this increased power, police stopped nine people and one car. One man, age 18, was found to have a knife on him and was arrested and is under investigation. A man, age 26, was found to have drugs.

Police addressed the drugs issue with a community resolution. They seized a knife and cannabis. A mobile police station is on Mulgrave Street, and police urge people to share any concerns.

A detective stated that the investigations continue and they are making progress on arrests. He emphasized the police prioritize stopping knife crime and want to bring offenders to justice.

The detective understands public worries and wants to reassure people. He pleads with locals to give information and asks parents to talk to their kids about knives.

He warns those with weapons are more likely to become victims themselves. If you know someone with a weapon, he urges you to tell the police. You can contact the police online or call Crimestoppers.
