A man’s body was discovered. Police responded to a welfare concern report. This occurred Thursday evening, February 20, near Holcombe sports and tennis club. Many emergency services arrived at the scene.

Police closed Longsight Road for hours, from Esso Garage to Brandlesholme Road. CSI teams and detectives arrived later. The body was reportedly found in an embankment.

The death is not viewed as suspicious, and further details remain undisclosed. A coroner will receive evidence before an inquest is opened.

Police made a statement Friday, noting their response to a concern on Longsight Road on Thursday. Sadly, they found a deceased man at the scene and did not find anything suspicious.

Bury Council released a statement Thursday night regarding the Longsight Road closure, impacting the Brandlesholme and Vernon Road junction. People were advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes.

The road is now open again to traffic.
