Police found a body near Westmead Open Space. It was in the River Avon this morning, March 3. The deceased was a man in his seventies.

They have identified the body, and his family has been notified. The police don’t suspect foul play connected to his death; their thoughts are with the man’s family.

The found body is not Sebastian Sailes. Sebastian is a missing 21-year-old man, and police are still actively searching for him today.

Chief Inspector Ben Huggins spoke about the discovery and acknowledged that this news worries people. He confirmed that the two cases are unrelated as of now and that they will keep searching for Sebastian Sailes soon.

Sebastian’s family knows about the found body, and police are offering support. They set up a cordon, but it has been lifted. This allowed them to investigate the scene.

They ask for information regarding Sebastian. Did you drive near Chippenham/Rowden Hill Thursday night? Check dashcam or Ring Doorbell footage, looking between 11:30 p.m. Thursday and early Friday. If you can help, call 101 and use log 141 of February 28.

Sebastian left the Black Horse Pub Thursday at 11:30 p.m. He went towards Lovers Walk on CCTV and likely walked south on Avon Valley Walk toward Notton. That would have taken him near his house.

Sebastian is white, around 5′ 10″ and slim. His hair is blonde/brown with a long fringe. He wore a grey jumper and blue jeans last, along with a beige fur lined jacket. He wore white Adidas trainers with Velcro.
