Ian MacLeod, father of a notorious killer and alleged gang leader, was found dead. He faced a life sentence.

Ian MacLeod was a gang leader in the 1980s. Some even believe he inspired the “Trainspotting” character, Begbie. One Reddit user supported this theory, describing MacLeod as a “real nasty guy.”
Dean MacLeod died at HMP Low Moss. He and his father received life sentences in 2022 for their horrific murders. Dean’s death was preceded by an attack on a prison officer where he used boiling water and sugar.
A prison source revealed Dean struggled to cope in jail. Desmond Rowling, 66, was one of the murder victims.
After their conviction, a judge labeled the MacLeods “cowardly monsters.” They had stabbed, beat, and disfigured two men, including Derek Johnston, whose ears, nose, and lip were cut off and nails hammered into his eyes.
The MacLeods inflicted 136 injuries on Desmond Rowlings and burned the initials “YLT,” likely a gang name, onto both victims. Police later found body parts in a backpack.
The men were sentenced to at least 34 years in prison. The judge condemned the murders as savage, calling it one of the worst cases ever seen.
Ian MacLeod may now fear for his safety since his son can no longer protect him. Other prisoners are reportedly disgusted by their crimes.
