Council gains power to buy land for the £65 million multiversity project after public inquiry. Construction slated for 2024.

The order lists properties on several streets including Cookson, Milbourne, Charles, plus George. The council needs this remaining 20% of the site and will keep trying to negotiate purchases. The council also has compulsory purchase powers now.
The order permits them to publish and serve a notice confirming the Compulsory Purchase Order.
The council can negotiate for property and discuss compensation. They can ensure the properties are vacant, and might even instruct the sheriff. This secures the needed land for the multiversity.
Construction should start later in 2024, hopefully. The multiversity is due to open in late 2027. Planners approved five floors of education that will deliver over 70 courses. These courses will relate to jobs.
Phase two development will expand space later. The college has future expansion plans, and this area will initially be for parking.
