Blackpool hosts a job fair next week at Winter Gardens, offering 1,000 jobs from 100 employers like Haven and Pleasure Beach.

Blackpool’s jobless rate is seven percent right now, while the UK rate is only 4.4 percent. Big names like Pleasure Beach are going, and other companies include Haven and Premier Inn.
Employers will chat with people casually, which might lead to on-the-spot hires. Some candidates may get callbacks later. Job Centres are helping with the event, and the morning is for people on benefits, starting at 9:30 a.m.
They expect up to three thousand people that morning. Attendees can meet people from many industries including tourism, retail, and education. The public can attend from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Just sign up online beforehand.
Chris Webb, MP, organized the job fair, and Employment Minister Alison McGovern joins him. They will visit The Cliffs Hotel too, which Choice Hotels runs in partnership with local colleges.
Webb said Blackpool needs better jobs badly and he hopes this fair helps people find them. These are jobs with solid wages and futures. He thinks stable jobs improve mental health, and he also believes it can reduce crime in Blackpool.
Webb wants better wages for everyone. The local wage is £591 per week, which is less than the North West average of £696, and less than the national average of £728.
The job fair is on February 27, a Thursday, at the Winter Gardens Conference Centre. The morning session targets those on benefits, and the public can attend starting at 12:30 p.m. You can register online beforehand at chriswebb.org/jobsfair.
