That’s about one crime for every six people. This covers the year ending in September 2024. Blackpool had the worst rates for violent crimes. These included violence against a person and violence with injury. Sexual offenses were also very high there.
In Lancashire, Burnley is next with 109 crimes per 1,000 people. Preston follows with 107 crimes per 1,000 residents. This data comes from official crime surveys.
Ribble Valley is Lancashire’s safest area. It only has 39 crimes per 1,000 people. That’s about one crime for every 25 residents.
Police recorded over five million non-fraud crimes. This was across England and Wales in the last year. Lancashire Police recorded 132,337 of these.
London’s Metropolitan Police had 944,000 reports. West Midlands Police followed with 321,000 reports, while West Yorkshire had 278,000 crime reports.
Middlesbrough had the highest crime rate outside London. They reported 166 crimes per 1,000 residents. The Crime Survey uses interviews to gather data. The survey estimates about 4.4 million experienced harassment. Around 2.2 million were victims of domestic abuse. Sadly, 1 million suffered sexual assault.
