A Blackpool bookshop on Birley Street may become an axe throwing bar, with plans submitted to Blackpool Council.

Developers requested permission from Blackpool Council. If approved, no alcohol is allowed where people throw axes. Staff will enforce this rule.
Architect Joseph Boniface submitted documents. He represents Mr. A. Glass, the applicant. The plan is a bar on the ground floor, with axe throwing planned for the first floor.
Upstairs, six axe throwing lanes will be built. There will be a reception desk, restrooms, and storage.
The reception will always have staff, providing guidance to new players. New players will learn axe throwing and get a safety briefing.
The building used to be a store, selling toys and then books. The bookstore closed last November after a closing sale.
Axe throwing is a popular activity where people throw axes at targets. Scores depend on where the axe hits. Turbary House in Preston also offers it.
Application 25/0075 will go to town hall planners. They will decide on it later.
