Birmingham started a campaign for older folks. They want to help those aged 70 to 79. The aim is to make them aware of financial help. This help includes Pension Credit.

Many older residents don’t know about Pension Credit. It gives extra money to those who qualify, and it can unlock other benefits, like Winter Fuel Payment. Council Tax reductions are a further advantage.

Free TV licenses exist for those over 75, and NHS dental help and glasses discounts are also available. The council wants to find eligible residents and help them get financial aid.

The project starts with contacting 20 residents using letters and texts. Then, they will contact 30 more pensioners to see if people need more support. This could mean home visits or help with forms. Also, they will explore other pensioner needs.

They will ensure access to support and tech help, if needed. The council asks anyone aged 70 to 79 to reach out. They can advise on Pension Credit and other support.

This campaign aims to reduce hardship and helps older folk live safely and with dignity. Council member Nicky Brennan spoke about the plan, saying residents miss out on key financial help.

This plan helps them get what they deserve and makes sure no one is left behind. Reaching out raises Pension Credit awareness, she stated, with the goal of helping citizens live decently and feel secure.
