A Birmingham mosque announced the start of Ramadan 2025. The announcement came from Green Lane Masjid, who also organize Eid events in the city. Their statement said Ramadan starts March 1st.

Taraweeh prayers begin tonight, February 28th, after Isha prayer at 8 PM. The mosque asks people to park carefully and urges good behavior during Ramadan.

GLMCC usually follows Saudi Arabia’s announcements and doesn’t wait for UK moon sightings. More announcements are coming soon, as people will try to see the moon in the UK. Ramadan dates might differ across the UK.

Some UK Muslims use local sightings and consult Morocco if clouds hide the moon. Morocco’s time matches the UK’s, while other UK Muslims follow Saudi Arabia’s dates, which is three hours ahead.

Experts think Morocco won’t see the moon simply because they only use naked-eye sightings. The moon needs a telescope to be seen there, so Ramadan begins March 2nd in Morocco. Experts predicted a split Ramadan.
