Birmingham Men on Trial for Premier League Star House Raid
Alexander Isak, from Newcastle United, got targeted. The raiders had stolen a lot beforehand. Jewelry and clothes worth over £1 million vanished. It belonged to a local businesswoman, the court heard.
Three family members from Italy admitted to burglary conspiracy. Valentino Nikolov, aged 32, says he is not guilty. Safet Ramic, 58, also denies involvement. He’s accused of handling stolen items.
The prosecutor, Dan Cordey, mentioned Isak’s home. It’s located on the Darras Hall estate. The burglary happened last April. He planned to share more details in court.
The group arrived from Calais by ferry. They used a Citroen C3 and a Ford motorhome. They traveled to London first, then drove to the North East soon after.
The Citroen served as transportation, and they used it for the break-ins. The motorhome was where they slept. The prosecution shared this with the court.
The first burglary happened in Jesmond, Newcastle, at the McCardle home. Helen and Michael McCardle were on vacation. The theft happened on March 30 last year.
They stole a CBE medal from her. The gang also took clothes and jewelry, as well as gold coins and handbags. The stolen goods totaled over £1 million.
Two days later they targeted Stephanie Stokoe’s home in Whitburn, Sunderland. They stole jewelry and designer items. Handbags and shoes also went missing, with a combined value exceeding £100,000.
Nikolov is defending himself in the trial and needs an Italian interpreter. His brother, sister, and her son pleaded guilty, admitting to conspiracy to commit burglary. They currently live in Italy.
