Police confirmed what happened to two officers. A Birmingham drug dealer intentionally drove at them. This happened on Reservoir Place in Walsall.

The officers are PC Bull and PC Kidd. Saqib Ali drove at them and dragged them after they tried to search him on February 24 of last year. Ali, 29, is from Mere Road, Birmingham.

An officer thought he was under the influence and approached his car to search it. As they began the search, Ali drove forward, trapping PC Kidd against the police van. PC Bull was also trapped by the driver’s door, which was pinned against the van. Bodycam video captured this incident.

The officers shouted, asking Ali to free them. Ali was found guilty of assault and wounding, following a trial at Birmingham Crown Court this week. Ali had previously admitted drug dealing charges.

He will be sentenced later. Police confirmed the officers’ condition one year later. Ali will likely face a long prison sentence. One officer sustained severe leg injuries and is still recovering from the February 24 incident. Another officer also suffered injuries because Ali drove at them deliberately.

Both officers were taken to a hospital. PC Bull had tissue damage and bruising, while PC Kidd had serious leg injuries requiring surgery and rehabilitation. Police arrested Ali the next day in Oldbury on Nelson Street.

He sat in a Volkswagen Passat with another man. They found suspected Class A drugs on him, and tests later confirmed it was crack cocaine. Detective Sergeant Phil Hinton commented on the case, saying it was distressing for the officers.

Bodycam footage captured the shocking incident and served as key evidence. Ali was quickly arrested and brought to court and now faces years in jail after his conviction.
