Plans submitted to temporarily remove the bell tower for off-site repairs due to safety concerns noted in a survey.

The Parish Hall sits across from Beverley Minster. Many groups use it for gatherings, as it can hold one hundred people.
It’s not as old as the Minster, which dates back to 1220. But, the hall is still special as it dates to the 1800s, made of red brick. The building has nice windows and its bell tower.
Surveyors said the bell tower is unsafe. Delaney Marling Partnership wrote a report indicating that it poses a safety risk now. They found it needs repairs quickly.
They want to take the tower down for a while, and the repairs will happen off-site. They need to replace bad wood, as some parts are gone, like a kneeler. The scrolls at the tower’s base are loose too.
The fixed tower will look the same, and they will use matching materials during repairs. The plans say everything will look identical after they plan to put the tower back.
East Riding Council will review the application, and then they will make a decision soon.
