A closed Betfred in Stone may become a permanent banking hub, offering counter services and private banking support.

This hub started at the Frank Jordan Centre in July. This happened after Stone’s last bank closed. Lloyds left the High Street location in September.
The hub offers counter services five days weekly. People can deposit cash and cheques there. Paying bills or withdrawing funds is possible too. Bank representatives from five banks attend, each sending someone on a different day. Customers can discuss payments or accounts privately.
The hub’s initial closing date was December. Stone Town Council extended its stay. It can operate until a permanent place opens.
A planning request asks to change the betting shop’s purpose. It seeks permission to transform it into a banking hub. Plans also include building changes and signs. The back could become a studio apartment, with its own side entrance.
Other planning applications were also submitted. A temporary campsite could appear at Yew Tree Farm. It would be a 60-day recreational site.
Someone wants to remove a pine at Haywood Grange. This relates to a Tree Preservation Order. At The Crest, they want to reduce a lime tree, which is under a Tree Preservation Order as well. Someone proposes converting a farm building to a house. It’s at Long Lane Head Farm, Plot 1.
Pruning branches near a house is requested, involving an ash tree at Weeping Cross. It falls under a Tree Preservation Order. More tree work is sought at Weeping Cross for a cherry tree, which is also governed by a Preservation Order.
A rear extension is planned at The Fillybrooks, extending 4 meters beyond the original wall. Another rear single-story extension is planned at Widecombe Avenue. Ground and first floor extensions are proposed on Rimbach Drive.
A minor change impacts Main Road. It relates to a previous building application. Changes are requested for Euxley Farm, concerning converting farm buildings to homes based on an earlier plan.
An agricultural barn is planned at Doxeywood Farm, located on Thorneyfields Lane. A caravan site near Red Lion Farm may be improved. Propositions include better pitches and an amenity block.
They want to change a betting shop on High Street, turning it into a banking hub plus a studio apartment. This covers front changes and signage, also involving rear work on the studio. A barn at Worston Hall may be rebuilt, becoming a two-bedroom annex, with the workshop turned into a garage. They want to rebuild it on the same spot.
