Traffic delays expected this weekend in Belfast due to parades and a football match. Plan accordingly.
One parade starts in east Belfast at 10:20 AM. It begins at Pottinger Street and follows a set route which includes Beersbridge Road and Templemore Ave. They’ll also go on Epworth Street and Lord Street. At Thorndyke Street, they’ll pause for five minutes for a wreath laying.
After that, the parade continues and can be expected on Templemore Avenue and Newtownards Road. They’ll be on Bridge End, too. The route goes to Ann Street and Victoria Street before marching on High Street and Castle Place. A remembrance service occurs around 11:30 AM at Royal Avenue’s North Street junction.
The parade returns via Royal Avenue to Castle Place and High Street. Look for them on Victoria Street too. They proceed to Waring Street and Albert Square. The route includes Donegall Quay and QE2 Bridge before continuing on Middlepath Street and Newtownards Road. The parade ends around 12:40 PM at Albertbridge Road.
There’s also a parade affecting north Belfast, starting at 1 PM in Woodvale Park. The parade goes along Woodvale Road and continues down Shankill Road and Northumberland Street. Expect it near Shankill Leisure Centre’s Carpark as it heads back to Northumberland Street and Shankill Road. A remembrance service is at 2 PM at the Garden of Reflection Shankill Graveyard.
Finally, Windsor Park hosts a football match with kickoff at 3 PM. Boucher Road will probably have extra traffic because of the game. Keep these events in mind to avoid traffic.
