A new banking spot is coming to Market Harborough. It will be in the council’s Symington Building. Harborough District Council shared this news. Cash Access UK will run the hub there.

Cash Access UK gets money from banks like Lloyds. They said they were looking for a place in October. Lloyds was going to close its town branch. The closing date got pushed back until next month.

Lloyds said fewer people visited the branch. Many customers use apps or online banking now. People can use the post office for banking. ATMs are also nearby for cash withdrawals.

The hub is temporary, the council stated. They need to find a permanent spot. Work starts right away to set up the council’s ground floor. Cash Access UK plans to open it in late February.

This service is a shared banking space. Anyone can use it, no matter their bank. Post Office workers will run it. People can get and deposit cash for any bank. They can pay bills and do normal banking tasks. It will be open weekdays from 9 AM to 5 PM.

A “community banker” will be there too. People can discuss complex issues with their own bank. Banks will visit the hub on specific days.

Councillor Phil Knowles is happy about this. He said many people can’t bank online. They lack internet or prefer in-person banking. He wanted a banking hub after banks closed. The council helped by offering its offices. He is excited for it to open soon.
