Two arrested after Lidl staff in Newport were assaulted. Suspects stole items, fled, and pushed workers. Police seek witnesses.

Two men and a woman allegedly stole items and left the store without paying. Workers approached them about it, and the alleged thieves pushed the worker. Then they drove away from the store.
Gwent Police are now investigating this crime and want witnesses. The incident occurred around 5 PM on Tuesday, February 4th, at the Lidl in Risca.
Police arrested a 49-year-old man who is suspected of theft, dangerous driving, and assault. Another man, age 30, was also arrested, suspected of theft and assault. Both men are out on conditional bail now.
Gwent Police stated they are asking for the public’s help with information about the theft and assault reports. These events happened at Lidl and its car park around 5 PM on February 4th. Two men and a woman stole items, exited the store, and when confronted, fled in a car. They pushed staff members to get away. Officers responded, and a woman got treatment for minor injuries.
