CCTV caught an armed gang threatening a couple in Coventry. Lisa and Karl Hassan had tools stolen from their van in Wyken. The tools were worth about £3,000.

The gang of four stole DeWalt tools from a van on Olive Avenue last Monday, February 10. Lisa heard noises and alerted Karl.

Lisa, age 51, tried stopping them, but a man yelled at her to go inside. Karl ran toward the gang’s Audi and punched a window, badly hurting his arm.

CCTV showed Karl running away while a gang member chased him closely. Lisa said the man used a weapon to smash a window on their property.

Police went there, but the gang had already left and no one has been arrested yet. Karl, age 46, needed hospital care for his arm and went to University Hospital Coventry.

Lisa said they might leave the city because they have simply had enough; “We are in shock,” she said. She has lived there for 25 years, and this is the first time it has happened.

“It is just horrible,” Lisa stated, adding that “You should feel safe at home.” Police are asking for information, and people can call 101 if they know something or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.

Police said they are investigating the tool theft that happened on Olive Avenue. They got the report after the thieves left, and officers gave first aid to Karl.

The crime was reported around 10:55 p.m. on February 10. Police continue to look for the criminals, and people can give tips online using the reference number 20/141585/25.
