Callum Knox and Damian Smith went inside with weapons. They also wore balaclavas to hide their faces. An alarm went off around 1:40 am. Staff confronted the men. Cops arrived super fast.
Smith gave up right away. He dropped his crowbar, then laid down. Knox tried to run. He had a crowbar above his head. Knox ran toward a cop and an exit. Officers tackled him to the floor.
He fought hard while they tried to arrest him with handcuffs. He even attempted to snatch a Taser. Police finally arrested both guys. They found a key on the floor. It led to their getaway car close by. Knox and Smith are from Southampton.
Knox pleaded guilty to burglary. He also admitted to assaulting two police officers. Smith did too. The men were sentenced this past Thursday. Knox, who is 38, will be in prison for over two years.
Smith, who is 44, will be in prison for over two years. He broke a suspended sentence. The police chief praised the officers’ bravery. He said they disarmed Knox. He also stated that they brought both men to justice. He added that they protect people from criminals.
