A man was found dead in Arbroath. His son has been charged with murder and appeared in court.

Police went to the house after being called about a death. Derek’s son, Croc Nicoll, nineteen years old, appeared in court. He was charged with murder and did not enter a plea. Croc will remain in custody and will be back in court soon.
The charges say Croc hit his dad with a hammer on the head, allegedly at their house. The crime occurred between February 4 and 11. Derek was also active in local clubs and sports.
He lectured at Asean University in Cambodia. Later, he became a vice-chancellor at Limkokwing University in Malaysia. He was also on BBC Radio 4 and the BBC World Service.
Police had cordoned off the street, and officers in white suits were present. Police Scotland made a statement saying a man was charged with murder in connection with the Arbroath death.
The man who died was likely sixty-four, and they arrested the nineteen-year-old. He appeared in court on February 14. Formal identification of the deceased is pending.
