An American tourist is accused of throwing her newborn baby from a Paris hotel window. The baby later died from its injuries.

An 18-year-old American tourist is suspected of being the mother, reports say. People think she threw the baby from a second-floor window.
People heard screams and called for help. Emergency services came quickly and took the baby to Robert-Debré hospital in the 19th arrondissement. They also took a woman, possibly the mother, to the hospital.
Reports say she was with US study abroad students. Witnesses say the baby had its umbilical cord still attached when thrown.
The baby died from the injuries, confirmed by the Paris prosecutor’s office. Officers from the minor protection brigade, belonging to the Paris judicial police, went to the hotel.
The prosecutor’s office started an investigation into the homicide of a child under 15.
Prosecutors said the woman traveled in Europe with a group of young adults and had surgery after giving birth. She is now in custody and thought to have denied the pregnancy.
A source spoke about the investigation, stating they want to know what happened and wondering about pregnancy denial.
