Aldi gets the green light to build a new store in Walsall Wood, replacing a pub and houses on Lichfield Road.

They will tear down the pub, three houses, and a storage unit. The new Aldi will sit between number 15 Lichfield Road and the Methodist Church. It’s near the Lidl store at the old Horse and Jockey pub.
Aldi says they will create up to 50 jobs for locals. They also did a survey before applying for permission, and most people liked the idea for a new store there.
Some people do not want another supermarket, while others worry about losing the pub and houses. Avison Young said most replies were positive, citing new jobs and local investment. Residents would not need to travel far to shop.
The new store will have 109 parking spaces, including six for disabled drivers and four for electric vehicles. You can only enter from Lichfield Road. The store will be open 8 AM to 10 PM, Monday to Saturday, and 9 AM to 6 PM on Sundays.
