Jason Smith banned from Leicester’s Golden Mile due to aggressive begging after numerous complaints and ignored warnings.

Smith is prohibited from entering the Golden Mile area in Belgrave. He broke an agreement before, leading the police to seek court intervention.
The order restricts Smith from causing trouble throughout Leicester. Police urge the public to watch for him and report any violations of the rules.
Officers worked diligently on this case after receiving numerous complaints about Smith’s behavior from people and businesses. Police had tried other things first.
Smith, age 47 and homeless, used threats to obtain money between July 2023 and July 2024. He also disregarded offers of assistance.
He initially received a behavior contract, but Smith kept ignoring it. The court issued the order January 7, and Smith cannot enter much of Belgrave now. The order also limits Smith’s actions.
The order forbids antisocial conduct, nuisance, harassment, aggressive begging and the use of threats.
This court order lasts two years, ending January 6, 2027. Smith will face criminal charges if he breaks it.
Belgrave police officer Kim Thomas stated that Smith repeatedly ignored warnings and refused help despite that his behavior caused distress to people.
Smith cannot enter a large part of Belgrave. If you see him there, notify the police at 101 so they can take action.
