Dublin City Council shared details about a new housing plan. It involves apartments at the Montpelier development. This is the former O’Devaney Gardens site. The launch is planned for late April.

Phase one includes social, affordable, and cost rental homes. A park, crèche, community space, and shops are also planned. This part is near Thor Place and Ashford Street. It has 379 A-rated homes.

The initial offering has 165 affordable homes. There are one, two, and three-bedroom apartments and houses. People earning €59,175 combined can apply. This helps them buy city center apartments.

A household earning €58,047 might buy a one-bed. It could cost €257,986 with a €25,799 deposit. They can use the Help To Buy Scheme, which offers up to €30,000 for the deposit.

Someone earning €75,150 can apply for a two-bed unit. The purchase price would be €334,000. Those with lower incomes and savings might qualify too. Officials discussed prices and timing.

Dublin City Council partnered with Bartra to build 1,044 new homes there. The first apartments will be ready in February 2026. Later phases complete in 2026 and 2027.

Half the A-rated homes go to Dublin City Council for social and affordable housing. An Approved Housing Body will manage 264 cost rental homes.

The council says this redesigns the area. It offers amenities and quality homes. Creches and shops will be available right away. This is a great new start for that community.

People can show interest in late April 2025. A website and open house events are planned. You can view model homes and prepare your mortgage application.

The official application portal opens in June 2025. O’Devaney Gardens aims for sustainability and a strong local economy. It also intends to meet residents’ needs.

The plan cultivates community and wellness. It promotes sustainable living. Community input helped shape the new area. Regular meetings happened for the past two years.
