Jonathan opened Artisan Art Gallery in Exmouth, displaying local artists. Affordable art, including Tom Hawkes’ paintings.

He bought his first painting with a credit card. That happened 20 years ago in Dartmouth. He really loved the art he saw. His uncle, Tom Hawkes, was an opera director. Tom directed over 500 productions.
Later, Tom painted when he retired in 2015. Tom wanted to leave a lasting legacy with his art. He passed away in 2023. He left behind around 700 paintings.
Jonathan inherited some of Tom’s art. This inspired him to open a gallery. It’s called Artisan in Exeter Road, Exmouth.
Artisan Art Gallery opened on February 1st. It displays Tom’s paintings. Jonathan also supports local artists. He wants art accessible for all budgets. He offers lower commission rates.
Customers can get custom payment plans. Jonathan wants to share his love for art. He remembers buying his first painting in 2005. A painting in Dartmouth took his breath away.
He had no money then, so he left. He kept thinking about the painting all week. The next weekend, he bought it with his credit card. This started his passion for art. Now, Jonathan wants others to feel the same joy.
