Union Street in Aberdeen is undergoing a major upgrade, with paving, traffic changes, and more improvements.

They’re working hard between Market Street and Bridge Street. Workers are laying concrete for new paving stones. Drivers should watch for changes at Market Street junction.
Starting February 10, look for temporary traffic lights there. They need to extend the construction safety barriers, which means taking out the old traffic light pole. This makes room for the last concrete area on the east side and they’re putting new pipes under the road, too.
After that, the sidewalk work starts. They’ll work on the south footpath’s east side, at the Union Street and Market Street corner.
Other projects are also happening downtown. They’re building a new entrance to Aberdeen Market, where the old BHS store used to be.
Also, teams are working at the beachfront currently. They’re separating the old leisure center, and plan to tear it down sometime this year. Workers are building paths to Broadhill, and working on drainage, for the new event field and beach park.
