Aberdeen shops will provide free items for two weeks, starting March 10, thanks to a council initiative to boost local business.

Shops will give away things worth £5 or £10 to a set number of people daily. Food, retail, and beauty shops are participating. Look for window stickers at the stores which show the shop is involved.
To know the details, check the council website or search for Freebie Fortnight online. Ask staff for the free item and say “Freebie Fortnight” to them. Up to 50 customers can get free items.
The council planned this promotion, led by their City Development team. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is providing the money.
Alex McLellan, a council Finance convener, talked about the event. He said the promotion helps local shops, encourages people to visit, and supports city center regeneration.
Businesses create their own deals, depending on what they have available and what is easy to give away. Workers might like ‘grab and go’ things, while visitors might browse longer in stores. The event is advertised on social media and runs on Northsound radio. Check “Freebie Fortnight” for more info.
