Figures reveal Aberdeen has the most social housing mould and damp complaints in Scotland, raising concerns about housing conditions.

Since the SNP took power, complaints are high. Across Scotland, there are over 160,000 complaints. However, some councils didn’t keep records, so the real number is probably even bigger.
Aberdeen has the most complaints recorded by far, reporting 34,787. Edinburgh is second with 24,216 complaints. Renfrewshire comes in third with 17,860. Glasgow, the biggest local authority in the country, didn’t keep track of these complaints.
A Conservative politician is criticizing the Scottish government, calling these numbers shameful. She says councils need more resources to provide safe housing.
It’s awful living with dampness or mold, as it can really hurt your health. Hundreds of thousands reported this problem. That’s too many social homes with these issues. Plus, 300,000 people are on waiting lists, indicating there aren’t enough homes to begin with, and many existing homes are not in good shape.
Scotland is facing a huge housing emergency. The SNP isn’t helping tenants enough, she claims, and the housing minister needs to improve things. Everyone deserves a safe, affordable home.
Reporters contacted Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Renfrewshire. They also asked the Scottish Government and Cosla to comment.
