Aberdeen RNLI volunteer becomes full-time lifesaver after passing Coxswain test, now serves Scotland.

Grant had already achieved significant milestones. In 2021, he became the youngest ALB mechanic. Then, in 2022, he became an inshore lifeboat helm. Now, Grant is dedicated to saving lives at sea. He is passionate about his commitment to the RNLI.
Grant began a full-time job in September 2024. His new role is Regional Resilience Mechanic and Coxswain. He helps Scotland’s lifeboat stations and keeps RNLI resources running all day.
Grant used to balance his job as a vehicle mechanic with volunteering as an ALB mechanic and navigator. He further helped as an ILB helm, readily supporting Aberdeen’s lifesaving actions.
Grant said he felt honored becoming Coxswain. He thanked his crew and RNLI team. The RNLI has been important in his life. He looks forward to saving lives.
The RNLI depends on its volunteers’ hard work. These volunteers keep lifeboat stations working, and Grant’s role strengthens those stations. He brings knowledge and leadership to Scotland.
