Hey, guess what I just read? Aberdeen had many fly-tipping problems. Over 1,400 incidents went unpunished. This happened in the last four years.

Since 2021, nobody paid a fine. People dumped refuse illegally in the city. Danestone in Bridge of Don was the worst. Last year, 28 instances occurred there alone.

In 2024, St Ninian’s Court was a hotspot. Urquhart Road and Street were also bad. The beach near Inverdon Court saw illegal dumping. Jackson Terrace had the same issue.

Douglas Lumsden wants tougher rules. He backs a bill for stricter penalties. They want to raise the £200 fine. They also want better incident data. The bill helps landowners too.

Lumsden stated new laws are urgent now. He shared the alarming figures. He says they must catch the fly-tippers.

Lumsden thinks it is shocking that over 1,400 Aberdeen incidents occurred and nobody has been caught since 2021. Fly-tipping harms Scotland’s environment. It spoils the landscape and cities.

The dumping is irresponsible and criminal. Councils often pay the cleanup costs. Few cases lead to prosecutions, sadly. Aberdeen never reported anyone to court. Lumsden supports tougher laws to stop fly-tipping.
