Abdirahman Ibrahim murdered Liam Jones by ramming him with his car in Yardley after a dispute over ‘showboating’.

Ibrahim was mad about “showboating.” Liam and a friend were on e-bikes on Coventry Road, just before midnight on August 1, 2023. Ibrahim’s brother, Abdullahi, was also in the car.
Ibrahim made a U-turn and chased the cyclists. This pursuit lasted about ten minutes. Ibrahim then rammed Liam’s e-bike on Moat Lane, accelerating and hitting Liam again. Liam fell off his bike into a concrete post.
Liam, aged 22, died at the scene from chest and abdominal injuries. A prosecutor said Liam did a wheelie, which might have angered Ibrahim and caused him to want to “teach him a lesson.” The e-bikers tried to escape him, even riding the wrong way on a one-way street.
Ibrahim caught Liam on Moat Lane, while Liam’s friend dodged him. Ibrahim purposely drove at Liam Jones and killed him. The brothers then parked the car and called a taxi. They stopped at a store after hurting Liam.
Abdullahi admitted to helping the offender. He returned to the car and then went home by taxi. Police identified the Seat Leon and went to the brothers’ home.
Abdirahman lied about his car, claiming it had been parked elsewhere. Ibrahim admitted to manslaughter earlier but was found guilty of murder. Abdullahi admitted to assisting an offender. They will be sentenced soon.
Police said Ibrahim meant to harm Liam, noting that he could have stopped but kept going. They believe he was angry about the wheelie. He drove off instead of helping.
Liam’s death worried the community a lot. Police worked hard to catch the brothers and hope this brings comfort to Liam’s family.
