Drivers filmed jumping red lights at A90 roadworks, endangering road workers. Safety campaign launched after rise in incidents.

Amey says ignoring signs and entering work zones is a big problem happening all over. Incidents rose a lot in 2024, with most incursions due to driver impatience. Amey wants drivers to think about worker safety.
A road worker named Jamie spoke up, saying people run red lights all the time and even drive into closed-off areas. He noted that people often yell at them and wants drivers to show more respect. He stressed they maintain roads for our safety.
Amey wants drivers to always follow signs and obey speed limits. They suggest planning trips to avoid feeling rushed and to be patient and nice to road workers. Ignoring the rules can bring fines and even the loss of a driver’s license.
Amey has plans to cut close calls by using body cameras for evidence and putting up CCTV cameras. Cone alarms will warn workers of dangers, and they might use smart lights with cameras, too.
Tom Wallace, an Amey director, also commented that traffic rules keep people safe, and ignoring them causes big risks. He wants drivers to respect workers, who keep our roads in good shape.
