The A63 in Hull will shut down for a weekend next month as the Castle Street project hits an important point.

They will pour concrete into the underpass, which will help create a split-level junction at Mytongate. National Highways will close the A63 between Daltry Street and Roger Millward Way, starting March 7 at 8 pm and ending March 10 at 6 am.

The project costs £355 million and should finish by Spring 2026. They are lowering the A63 at Ferensway and Commercial Road. This creates a new interchange.

Michael Upshon, a project manager, said they can pour concrete now for the underpass base slabs. He mentions past project issues.

Upshon said the closure is very important, and they need it to finish this stage. They will pump lots of concrete, with pumps running all weekend long. About 1,215 cubic meters of concrete are needed.

Machinery is needed on both sides as they build the base for new electronic signs.

Drivers should plan ahead that weekend as journeys will take longer. A diversion will be in place. Eastbound traffic uses the A15, A164, A1079, and A1033, while westbound traffic uses the same roads in reverse.

Upshon said equipment causes some noise, and they will try to keep noise down.

Upshon apologized for problems, stating that this complex work might disrupt things.
