Residents voice concerns over the A55 A470 link plan. Many call it a waste of money and want roads fixed instead.

Conwy Council got money for walking routes. This came from prior UK government funds. They aim to enhance cycling and walking areas. A chunk funds the A470 to A55 link. It connects Glan Conwy to A55 junction 18.
An application went to planning last year. The plan shows a three-meter wide path. It starts by the layby near Glan Conwy. It goes toward the Black Cat garage. The path crosses the Conwy rail line.
It also crosses the Afon Ganol river. Two bridges are needed for these crossings. Then, it goes around a wildlife area. The path ends near the RSPB car park. The car park is by A55 junction 18.
Some work already started near Tesco. They are improving routes to Llandudno Junction. One person expects good use of the path. They think it’s a shortcut for walkers and bikers.
Another person asked about a second Menai crossing. They also mentioned a better train system. Someone else called the path a waste of money. They suggested fixing potholes first.
One person hadn’t seen bikers on the new path. It runs along the A470 to Llandudno. Another path goes from Llandudno to the RSPB. Someone replied they had seen walkers on the path.
A person said councils build paths but don’t fix them. Paths then get bad, so bikers stay on roads. Someone noted council tax pays for roads already. Most bikers also own cars, someone stated. They already pay road tax and fuel costs.
A person thinks they should fix the A470 first. Another said this path extends one to Glan Conwy. Someone described it as a nice walk to the Cross Keys pub. Some online comments are focused on complaining.
A commenter said people drive to walk the path. Cyclists can’t use it because of walkers, they said. Someone else then clarified that the path is for both using. It’s for fun, not a real transportation solution.
It won’t work for commuting cyclists. A person mentioned the path not being insured. They claimed bikers ride dangerously on the roads. It is a waste of money, they think.
Roads have potholes, and cars get damaged. More hospitals, doctors, and nurses are needed. Someone believes the money is wasted on the path. A person thought prior government wasted money on Rwanda flights. They wanted community improvements in the UK.
