The A40 in Gloucestershire will close during the day. National Highways will do roadwork in three spots: Boxbush, Hopeswood, and Forest Gate. They need to survey the area.

These surveys will help prevent landslips. Engineers can then plan resurfacing. They packed projects into one week, reducing the need for several closures.

The work is noisy, so they will do it daytime. Starting February 17, closing February 21, expect closures. The A40 closes between Forest Gate and Lea from 8 am to 6 pm. The work takes about five days.

Residents and businesses can still access the area. Emergency vehicles also have access. The road is open in the evenings and weekends, weather permitting.

If the weather is bad, the work might take longer. National Highways wants to minimize problems and apologize for any trouble caused.

Well-marked detours will be in place. For light vehicles, use the A4136 and B4224. HGVs should use the A417 and M50.

You can still get to properties within the closure. Hopeswood will have a full daytime closure by Taylor and Hopeswood Park. No through traffic is allowed here during the day. To get to Taylor, enter or exit via Lea. To get to Hopeswood Park, use Huntley or Forest Gate.

Expect temporary lights at Forest Gate and Boxbush. These control access to homes and businesses, and no through traffic is allowed at these spots. You could wait to be escorted through. Speak to the team at the closure point for access. Allow extra travel time and tell visitors about these access rules.
