Lesley Capewell, a 95-year-old man, died after being found on his floor two days after a possible break-in. Police said no crime happened.

His son, Carl, discovered Lesley covered in blood and the TV broken nearby. Lesley couldn’t reach his help button and he had six grandchildren.

Lesley was quickly transported to the hospital, where doctors treated his head injury. He told Carl and Skye, his granddaughter, about men who took £5,000 from his closet.

Two weeks later, Lesley passed away. Skye received a call from her dad while on vacation, who told her about the break-in where Lesley was found with blood on him. His teeth and hearing aid had fallen out, and he had hurt the back of his head.

At the hospital, Lesley described “two men coming in” and said £5,000 was missing from his closet. The bag was found empty on the bed. They thought Lesley might’ve fought back, as he said he was there a day and a night.

Carl usually picked up Lesley for dinner regularly, saying if he hadn’t come, Lesley would’ve died there.

After discovering Lesley, they cleaned his living room and replaced the TV. The family installed outdoor cameras but then learned about his passing, which shocked them because they felt he would still be alive if this hadn’t happened.

Skye thinks shock killed him and feels this could have been avoided because Lesley had more life to live. He was independent and active, going to town and carrying shopping. They joked he would outlive them all.

Seeing his pictures now makes Skye angry because he had a good life. This was not how it should end; Lesley even said he’d be fine if this didn’t happen.

The family hopes to get tips from others and wants justice for him. The situation takes a toll on Skye, who has children and can’t focus and imagines him alone on the floor at night.

He was a great, silly grandpa who always made jokes. Lesley was kind and old-fashioned and a big part of their family. His death is a big loss, and they all loved him a lot.

A police spokesperson sent condolences to Lesley’s family and understood it’s traumatic. Senior officers reviewed the case but said no evidence shows anyone else was with Lesley.

Officers saw cash that no one took and did not see other signs someone was there, leading them to believe Lesley had a health issue and fell.

They got more information later about possible foul play and did more work, checking local cameras but still found no sign of anyone else.

Lesley died in September, and police finished the probe recently. Skye says the family is “annoyed” because the place looked like a murder scene to her. Lesley was frail and could not make that much damage, and he kept his place clean. She felt he was in shock, not confused, and recalled his eye doctor appointment at the hospital. He never changed his story about the men.
