A filmmaker’s life ended amid business & personal struggles. Family remembers his kindness after his death at 29.

Financial issues from his business and his PhD work added to his stress. The end of his marriage made things harder, worsening his anxiety and depression.
Cameron’s mom, Stephanie Cortes, shared a statement, describing him as kind, funny, and sensitive. Family and friends loved him very much, and he had many unique experiences, she said.
His dad, Antony Oswin, also gave a statement noting how close he and Cameron were, even when far apart. They often talked on the phone a lot. Cameron got mental health support before he died, using services through his doctor and university.
Despite support, his anxiety and depression continued. His mom said they will never forget him and wants to remember his life, not his death. She stated she believes Cameron is at peace now and that he will always live in everyone’s hearts.
Cameron received his PhD after he died, and his family attended the graduation. Senior coroner Andrew Hetherington stated that Cameron died from a deliberate act; this occurred during a mental health crisis.
