After seven long years, a couple is reunited with their dog, Lola, thanks to a microchip and council efforts.
The owner had to move and left Lola and Maya with a sitter in Aylesford, Kent. Wioleta and Mateusz visited them often. Then, one day, the dogs disappeared.
The council made a tough choice, she explained: “Dogs or housing.” They hired a dog sitter. After two months, the dogs were gone. They posted flyers everywhere and never stopped looking for them.
Lola is now back with her family. The couple got a surprising call last week, informing them that Lola was found in Swanley. They scanned her microchip, and it was the call they had waited years for.
The owners had moved from London to Leeds, but they kept their chip details current. Sevenoaks Council contacted them right away and reunited them with Lola on Friday, February 21st.
Wioleta was shocked by the call. She said she cried instantly because they couldn’t believe it was real. She always hoped they would find them, and Lola recognized her quickly, jumping into her arms.
Lola was a puppy when she went missing. Her fur was matted when she returned, and she also had a bad skin problem. Wioleta thinks Lola was used for breeding, a suspicion confirmed by a vet.
Lola was in bad shape and smelled terrible, she explained. They gave her special shampoo for her skin. The owners continue to search for Maya, who is still missing.
A council member, Irene Roy, commented on the happy reunion, acknowledging how hard it is to lose a pet, mentioning that Wioleta never stopped hoping to find them. The Animal Welfare Team helped reunite Lola, demonstrating how microchipping works and the importance of keeping chip details updated.
