Ed Davey praised people after the North Sea collision. He thanked groups for their help. Davey said they avoided an environmental disaster.

Davey visited the Humber Estuary shore. He met Mike Ross, a Hull City Council leader. They talked about the North Sea’s environmental risks.

The MV Solong crashed into a tanker on Monday. This happened off East Yorkshire’s coast. Over thirty people were hurt and taken to shore. One person is still missing and likely dead.

Davey and Ross want an emergency summit in Yorkshire. They want to inform leaders and the public. The summit would address security and environmental risks.

Davey stated the environmental impact wasn’t too bad. He thanked locals again for their great response. He said they helped avoid a catastrophe. He thinks polluters should pay for the cleanup.

Davey said agencies involved did a fantastic job. He was thankful for their hard work. Ross noted the Prime Minister is informed. This followed Keir Starmer’s Hull visit.

He said they need real action now. A Minister should go to the area. East Yorkshire needs to know about security risks. Ross worries about the disaster’s coastal impact. He is concerned about the Humber estuary. He urged the government to act fast. He wants their actions to match the emergency services.
