About Swanmead School2018-10-12T10:19:34+00:00

Swanmead Community School is a 9-13 Middle school with 279 pupils serving the town of Ilminster and its surrounding villages and hamlets in South Somerset.

The school is close to the centre of the town and benefits from a large site with excellent specialist facilities.

At Swanmead Community School, we aim to demonstrate that every child matters in an environment in which there is great care and understanding; where learning experiences are active, challenging and enjoyable and everyone is helped to reach their full potential.

We have high expectations of ourselves and everyone associated with the school. We believe that education thrives where there is a partnership with teachers, pupils and parents all playing vital roles.  Partnerships within our three tier pyramid are strong; there is good liaison with our local First schools, our partner Middle school Maiden Beech in Crewkerne – and the Upper school, Wadham C of E School in Crewkerne.

As a middle school, we aim to nurture and guide the talents of our young people, and foster a feeling of self worth that helps them to have and achieve high aspirations and prepares them for future opportunities and demands. Our staff provides the breadth of specialist knowledge and experience necessary for the range of talents and abilities of our comprehensive intake.

I hope this website will provide an insight into the curriculum and experiences we offer. If you are unable to find the information you are looking for or would simply like further contact, please phone 01460 52431 or email the school at Swanmead@educ.somerset.gov.uk
